Thus says The Lord

Billy speaks about the will of God and how he always makes a way for the Christian is in His will to complete the task giving.  He caution one to be obedient to God and make sure that the task lines up with the word of God.  He states the spirit will never lead a person to do something that is outside the will of God.

This is so true.  I can remember a time when I was having unexpected car problems.  When the car finally did start running, it was sluggish and chugged along until I reach a spot where there was a Christian bookstore.  Then a vision of these beast entered my view right over the store and electrical sparks flew.  I went to the store during lunch and told them of my vision.  Turns out they had been having electrical and computer issues for no reason.  My vision put these to rest and the store no longer had computer or electrical issues after much prayer.  Be in the will of God, there is nothing that compares to it.

“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. (John 13:13 NIV)

Conversion

Billy talks about how there is a mystery around the conversion of a Christian.  How God transforms those who believe and changes their hearts to be more like His.  The one thing to remember is that God is still changing lives today.  I have been reading online about the recent crusades with Franklin Graham in Thailand.  Amazing how this country has since the word of God come to life in his messages.  I pray that the new converts begin to search the Word to learn all they can about God.

Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, (Ephesians 6:19 NIV)

Mom

Today Billy discusses the value of a godly mother. For example, George Washington's mother was a god fearing woman, while Nero's mother was a murderer. All of us have our stories of what our own mothers did to raise us. For some, our mothers were very doting, while other don't have the experience of a mother or one that was there for their kids.

While my own experience had two moms since my parents divorced, they varied greatly in their parenting style and their nature. My mom was very standoffish, while my stepmom was mild and loving. I can honestly say that I know my mom did the best she could. Her own parents were harsh on her which made her rebel and a little wild. She held a grudge against her own brothers and sisters who had been equally rough during her childhood. After I left home, our relationship, although strained, survived. We had a big fight in 2004 which ended our relationship for nearly three years before I was contacted by her for help. Then in late 2007, I was contacted by adult protective services to see what options she could be placed. After nearly five years in a nursing home, she passed away.

My step mom on the other hand was a gem. She was there when my own mom was not. I can honestly say she is a wonderful example of what a godly mom should look like. I'm not saying she is perfect because only one person has ever been perfect, but she lives the best example she can live.

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: (Proverbs 31:28 NIV)

Created - not to be Selfish

Creation. We were created in the image of God. Billy points out that God was lonely and created us to be his companion. In today's world, we speak of life on other planets. We go to great lengths to explore space and the outter reaches of space. We build massive space ships, large telescopes, and a wide array of radio scopes.   All of the search of other life. However, life is all around us yet we do not see it. We ignore those next door or around the corner. We are self absorbed, selfish, and arrogant.

Today someone rang my doorbell well after dark. Apparently a deliver I was expecting made it to the wrong house. At first I thought it was the deliver person and then realized, since they range the bell multiple times and begged me not to open the door (dogs were barking as usual), it was not the deliver person. That person could have very well had ignored the package and went into their own warm house. Yet they decided to drive out of their way to get the package to me. I am thankful for this since it was a new pair of boots I had ordered online.

For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. (Romans 11:36 NKJV)

World Ending

Sorry about the delay. I actually was installing a new thermostat for the house since the old one had started corroding the batteries. Actually had a hard time with the installation because my heating system is older and had to be rewired some for the new wifi device. Glad I can say that now I can control the temperature when I am even away from home.

Billy starts off by saying the Christianity is the "Gospel of crisis". Speaking of the end of the age, Billy continues about how Christians can be happy. We have hope and we know what the future fate of this world is destined for greater purpose. We know that God will setup his kingdom on Earth and wipe away all that man has done wrong in the world.

The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15 NIV)

Undestructible

The word of God is undestructible. Billy notes that throughout the ages, man has attempted to destroy the truth. Through fires and various means, these words have withstood the test of time. Scholars have tried to disprove it, yet the faith grew strong. Even after this world has passed, this word will remain.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35 NIV)

Freedom

Today's message from Billy is short.  Which for me is a good thing because I feel blah.  Long day outside the office and other personal things have gotten me dragging.   Salvation.  Those who have it are free.  Those who don't  are either in denial or just don't follow the teachings of Christ.  But when you thing about it, almost all of the world believes in something bigger than themselves.  For the saved Christians, it the freedom of knowing that your debts are paid.  For some others, it is the search for truth.  Other life forms or the search for significance in the world (which by the way is an excellent read). Have you been searching?  Are you still wondering what is this Christ all about?  You won't know until you open the word of God and seek his guidance.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 NIV)

Flying Kites

Billy tells the story of a boy who flew a kite so high that he could not longer see it because of the clouds.  Someone asked him how he knew the kite was there, to which he replied, because I feel a tug every once in a while.  The same holds true with God.  Sometimes it's just an unexplained tugging at your heart.  Have you felt it recently?  Those feelings you can't explain to call someone, pray for someone, or just God saying I am here.  Be alert and watchful for His voice.

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. (Psalm 100:3 NIV)

Love Someone

I can so relate to Billy's story of a young boy who told a prospective mother and father that all he wants is to be loved. Everyone wants it. Some get too much and become spoiled brats, while others don't get enough and fight for it. People are made to love others. We have it in our very nature. Without it, we are not living life to our full potential.

keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 1:21 NIV)

Self destruct

As the world focuses its attention to the continuing peace talks in the Middle East and our government attempts to resolve the Iran nuclear crisis, today's lesson is spot on.  Billy notes that we can't even continue our lives without building nuclear weapons, destroying each other through death or robbery.  He says we can't even control ourselves.  I find this to be so true.  Most of us lie.  Some of us steal, rob, or murder one another.  Heck, some of us even kill ourselves, drown ourselves in alcohol, drugs, lewd behavior.  It all comes down to one simple truth.  God exists.

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good. (Psalm 53:1 NIV)

Peace

Peace doesn't come from holding a sign saying "world peace". Peace comes for a  change of heart.  Only God can change someone's heart.  Billy mentions seeing several world events which peace was a theme.  The promise of peace through man will always go unfulfilled.  Whether it is a relationship, religion, or any other form that promises peace, keep in mind that it will lead to empty promises.  Find peace through God

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, (Ephesians 2:13, 14 NIV)

Not your monkeys Uncle

Billy explores the scientific discovers that modern man has found. For example a snow flake is made up of some many different particles that it hard to fathom the begin and the end of one. Same is true with mankind. When Darwin connected man and monkey, he did so on the premise that if just one of his theories could be proven wrong then his entire legacy of monkey to man and evolution would be proven wrong. That came with the invention of particle microscopes. The moving parts of cells are so complex and unique to man that Darwin's theories have been blown out of the water. Needless to say most textbooks are still leaning toward the truth of his theories even though it has been disproven.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, (Psalm 8:3 NIV)

Self and happiness

Self.  People have different images of themselves.  Some view themselves more highly than they hold of others.  Billy states that God is the peacemaker better our view of ourself and our view of God.  He reconciles the common sense of self and the thoughts we have of God.  Billy says that Gods concern for our happiness is far more infinite than our own.

So true.  Once I stopped trying to fufill my life through marriage, relationships or other wants.  Once I realized those things didn't hold my own happiness but that God was all I needed, am I a lot happier.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (Isaiah 26:3 NIV)

Apathetic

Billy tells the story of when the US was attacked by Japan in 1941. Shortly after the sleeping giant awakened and showed the world what happens when you wake the dragon. Now days, Christians are asleep with apathy and unless they awaken the life of America is fastly approaching demise. I pray that the hearts of Christians turn back to God and see the world as He sees it: in need of salvation.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 NIV)

Rebellious Youngsters

Billy speaks about how some young people move away from how they were brought up (aka their beliefs). The people who had influenced them over their your impressionable years is no longer their authority for what is right and wrong. What they should believe and what they don't believe. I am of the thought that if you teach your children the ways of God and live as an example and not push them in a relationship with God but gently guide, their faith will be restored after their wandering days are over. Some experience it sooner than others, some later than those younger. Needless to say the either return to seek God or continue down a path to destruction.
I have personally experienced it with my own girls. One who seemed to struggle through her own growing pains and another who really just started experiencing the joy of God through adversity. The last daughter is still in her teenage years. Still trying to discover who she is and who she wants to be in life.

All of our kids go through it whether they are the preachers kid or the parents who watch their kids like a hawk. My own rebellion ended when I was 23 and accepting Christ. By that time I already had one child, who had accepted Christ soon after I did.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (Psalm 51:12 NIV)

Adopted by grace

Billy describes a story about King Charles V who was loaned a large sum of money by a merchant. However, when the note was due, he was unable to pay for it. The merchant threw a feast for the king and set afire a large platter. Then he took out the note and burned it. Just as the king was grateful to the merchant, our heavenly king did the same for us. He forgave our sins and paid our debt by dying for us. Turn your eyes to the King who lives for ever. Not one made of paper, stone, metal, or jewels. He has adopted us as his children

Had a very good day.

who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, (Galatians 1:4 NIV)

Building fences

Today's lesson is about how God is wonderful. That He rescues the hopeless and places them over many things.   Billy gives the example of Joseph (you know, the coat of man colors). He was thrown in a pit by his brothers, sold into slavery, lifted up to be an overseer, accused of indecent behavior, but saved the Jewish race from famine.

Sorry so short. Long weekend rebuilding a fence. Happy Veterans Day!!! Thanks so much for your service.  My dad is a vet of WWII.

But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. (Psalm 52:8 NIV)

Life as we know it

Today's lesson by Billy speaks of the order of the universe. Specifically what he calls "the language of order, beauty, perfection, and intelligence". The order of life is all around us even if we don't acknowledge it. It's in the air, the trees, the animals, and even the seas. We humans coexist in this world with various beast and plants. The plants and tree give us oxygen to breath and we give in return carbon dioxide. How can anyone fail to recognize this law of nature created by God?

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. (Psalm 19:1-3 NIV)

My dad made it home okay. Just praying for the pain during recovery to be minimal.

Happy happy happy

Making this a short post since I have been up at the hospital with my dad. His surgery went well and he will be home tomorrow.

Today's lesson gives the example of a women who claims to be the loneliest women in the world. Billy advised her to start sharing her faith. She wrote back and told him that she had taken his advice and is now the happiest women in the world

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. (Hebrews 13:15 NIV)

Hope & Faith

Tonight was the start of My Hope with Billy Graham. It was great to hear from him again. I would encourage each of you to find a broadcast for it. http://watchbillygraham.com/?#

The foundation of the Christian faith is the resurrection. Without it the truth preach for the past 2000 years is no longer valid. The philosopher Karl Barth said, "we are always free to reject it, but not modify it". Without the resurrection our faith is pointless for the hope that God has placed in Christ. Faithfully people believe because it has changed their lives.

I believe we can say this today too. Before long Christ will return, Christians will disappear and the whole world will be thrown in chaos Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. (John 14:19 NIV)

Undaunting Love

Understanding God's unconditional love can be somewhat daunting. One might have questions about how God could love us in our sin. Billy's message today is about how Christ died for us, though we were sinners. He replays a story about a young society leader who had visited both he and his wife, Ruth. Although she had converted and learned scripture, she was still left wondering how God could love her in her sin.

I think there are alot of people today that feel the same way. God is standing there with his arms wide open and they are asking but why do you love me, how can you love me. When all they really should be doing is just say, okay, you love me. I accept your free gift of Christ your son.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 NIV)

I have a prayer request. My boss shared that his mother is very ill. Doctors are not giving her much longer to live due to a heart valve issue that had been fixed but is failing. My prayer is that she is healed.

Are you Anxious?

Billy points out that today's society is one of the most worrisome in the history of the modern man. We have less to worry about due to advances of medicine, industry, technology, and the list could go on. The generations of the centuries before had to toil the ground to make a living but they were not as worried. The modern man seems to be more advanced yet has more to worry about.
Billy states that a Christian should not worry because we have faith in God to take care of us. We still have the same problems as everyone else, yet society is headed in the opposite direction than that of the Christian. In the middle of our conflict, we can seek out God to bring us peace.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6 NIV)

Disagreeing

In America today, there is a lot of disharmony. First, you have those that believe we are losing the focus of why we were founded. Then you have those that believe that the government is moving in t he right direction. That we are progressing toward a higher purpose of taking care of our fellow man, even if they do nothing to deserve it. Billy points out that we should focus on the person with whom we disagree and not the "rhetoric" that is being spoken. We are to love all men equally, whether we disagree with their beliefs are not.

I have had to remind myself of this several times. The last time was a week ago in training, when one of the trainers said something I personally disagreed with. I was in shock they even said it since I believe the group setting would have been on the same page I was. It's sad that I could not say it then that I thought of this scripture to give me a different attitude towards that person (I purposely didn't sit at their table the next day). I shunned this person merely because I disagreed with his point of view. Sad I know. See how God points those things out. :(

and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:2 NIV)

Friend of the Friendless

God knows what is to be without friends. When Jesus was in the desert, he was friendless. When he was on his way to the cross, I am sure he felt friendless. All of us at any point in time can remember when they felt like they didn't have a friend in the world. Even I have experienced that, especially after after my last relationship ended. Billy reminds us it was Christ that laid down his life for us so we would never be alone even when we were. At anytime, we can call on Christ and he will be there to listen.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. (Psalm 91:14 NIV)

Spiritual Revival - Coming soon to Your Heart!

I have to say that I believe we are entering into a time that Christians and Non-Christians will put their faith on the line. Some will begin to renew their commitments to their first love - Christ. Others will find faith in Christ. While still others will see and hear but still refuse to believe. I might be crazy, but I am not the only one. The other night, two times I was under the impression that something was going on. The first time, I thought of my kids, nothing going on there. Then my father...nope not him either. Not sure at that time what it was. Then, I was awaken by the Lord with a strong feeling that lasted for over an hour. I first checked the news, then twitter and facebook. Facebook, though, had that there would be a solar eclipse on Sunday, November 3rd (today since this gets posted early morning). So I googled the significance of November 3rd. Besides the time changing in most states, the eclipse was the only thing I knew about, but then I found Comet ISON. It apparently will appear as well. While that is not the significant part of it, Thanksgiving is the start of Chanukah, a Jewish holiday, the Festival of Lights. It continues for eight days. At this point Comet ISON will be the closest to the sun. From everything I have read, the comet will sling around the sun and come out still intact (740k is really close to the heat). This event is the start of some very significant celestial events. I'm just going to post a link (http://www.wnd.com/2013/10/blood-moons-expert-watch-2014-and-2015/)

Today's lesson is walking in the Spirit. It is a way of life. As Billy notes, it's a day by day way of living. It is moving forward, not standing still. When you are moving, you are walking away from your past, your sin, your old self, your old ideals of what God is, your thoughts. When you are walking, you are moving toward something. Towards God, new life, Christ, Hope. There is no turning back when you are moving forward and away from something. You have left behind the past and started a new life believing in God, by Faith. Just as noted above, I have faith that something is happening bigger than what I have seen before. Bigger than what the world has seen. My faith comes from hearing the word, learning the word, and being taught the word. Without it, I would be like a boat adrift on the ocean. Taken by the waves and winds where they point the boat. With faith, I have direction. My sail is up and pointed northward. My life is not my own since I have been purchased with the blood of Christ. It is my duty to become his servant and spread the word of God through the world (i.e. internet). I pray daily for those that will read this in the future that it will be a beacon of light for all that sees it. This is for when I am gone. When we are all gone. You will be left wondering what happened to the Christians. This is your light. Pick up a Bible, since there will be plenty around before they decided to burn them, and read Revelations. It tells you what is about to happen. If you get stuck, ask God for wisdom on how to interpret the scriptures. But, the first step is faith.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16 NIV)

Good Gifts

The Holy Spirit is the voice of the Father and Son to each persons spirit. Once you accept Christ, you will notice a change. Things that you use to do will stop being as important. The Holy Spirit is there to help guide you, help your understanding, and love you. As Billy notes, you may not always feel Him, but he is always there.

So my personal experience with the Holy Spirit, I have posted before, but it's a warm feeling that spreads throughout my stomach area. This feeling is not always there. I know he is always with me though.

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13 NIV)

Can't Get Something from Nothing

It's interesting in today, that people are able to believe this world was created through various means. That man has evolved or that all life has evolved. Most people who believe in Christ do so based on a sixth sense that is God giving. An undiscovered sense that has a direct connection to the God who created the universe, who breathed life into Man, who created the animals, reptiles, birds, and the creatures of the oceans. Billy touches on the fact that one has to believe by faith in order to "see" God. It is through Christ His son that faith begins. It grows over time to enable us to tell others. We are God's creation and without Him we will perish.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NIV)

Today has been a very emotional day. It hurts that I have been in a role that has expanded my knowledge but has failed to fulfill. Part of it is due to the organizational changes that have happened. Part of it is has been me not being honest with myself. I have known for sometime, but I am not quiet ready to give up on it yet. I like the firm, just need to a new direction to my path.

Hope everyone had a good Halloween. It was my daughters birthday and I won't mention her age since it will give away mine.
